So, here we are. Our first blog post. We'll be offering insights into who we are, our products, what we're working on, and all things 'baby'.
How Charlie Harrison came to be
Since launching our online store, we have been overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback received from family members, friends and, of course, our customers. But, when spreading the word about our new business venture, many people have asked, 'Why "Charlie Harrison"?' The answer is simple. We are two families, working together to bring other parents and parents-to-be beautiful gift sets that we ourselves would want to receive. When deciding on the moniker, we realised that what we were looking for was right in front of us. Our two gorgeous boys provided the inspiration for the initial business concept and so, Charlie and Harrison, this is for you.
If you are a parent yourself, or are lucky enough to have children in your life, you'll no doubt take pride in every little thing they do. This is how we feel about Charlie Harrison. We have put a whole lot of thought, care and love into the products that make up each newborn gift set. Everything from the premium, branded items to the keepsake box and personalised message card has been handpicked.
As a first-time parent, I received countless gifts for the baby. I soon realised how popular baby gift sets were when a few turned up at the door. I absolutely loved the idea of people being able to send a gift without them feeling as if they're intruding on those precious first days and weeks. Don't get me wrong. The gift sets and hampers were greatly appreciated, but there were a few things we thought could have been better:
1. Too much filler
What I mean by this are the items that bulk up the gift set but actually don't add any value. For me, these filler items included a strange-smelling soap and herbal tea that was apparently going to help me sleep. I'm fairly sure I was so exhausted in those first months that sleep-inducing tea was definitely NOT required.
2. That plain white box
Even though the gift sets I received were produced by different companies, they all used that same boring white box. You know the type I'm talking about. The one that looks like it comes straight from the local bakery. My first thought was, 'Where's the personality?'
3. No message card
Having gifts delivered to the door is really exciting. The only problem that I had personally, was knowing who had sent the said gifts. I searched high and low for a card, tag or a small clue within the courier's details as to the sender's identity. Nothing. All I had to do was hope that someone messaged or called to ask whether I'd received their gift set with the white box. Yes, I had, thank you. One of many (refer point 2).
Our first baby gift sets were born
So, with all these things in mind, we came up with the idea to create gift sets that not only contained beautiful, practical items, but also gave that 'wow' factor with the gift box itself. All of our gift sets include a complimentary message card so the recipient will always know who sent it, and it is a way to add that special, personalised touch.
I could go on all day about why we do what we do, but I won't. Instead, we'd love to hear from you. What do you love about our current gift sets? What types of items, box themes etc. would you like to see in future gift sets? We're always working on new ideas and concepts, so leave a comment or contact us directly.
Have a great day,
